Good Morning, Lovelies!  (Afternoon for many of you),

I know you are expecting this awesome juice feasting post that will rock your world today but as I was putting the information together, I realized it would take me more than a few minutes to draft a proper post.  In fact, I’m thinking it may be a two-parter.  Yesterday one of you asked if I could talk a little bit more about blending and juicing before s/he runs out and purchases a juicer.  I can gladly do that.  Is there anything else in particular people want to see discussed?  If you think of something today, let me know & I’ll do my best to make that happen.  I’m thinking I would like to start a 10-day juice feast with everyone on October 1st.  What do y’all think?  It’s a great month because there are no holidays besides Halloween so if you are digging it, you can keep on feasting through the month & make it 14, 21, 30 days…whatever floats your boat.  Or you can just stick to the 10 days.  I know October 1st may seem like a long time away however, depending on how clean you are eating right now, the next two weeks would be a great time to start weening yourself off some things so it doesn’t hurt so bad when when you pull the plug.  For example, if you are currently consuming SODA (any type–natural, diet, etc.), coffee, processed foods (fast food is history!), prepackaged foods, white stuff (white & other refined sugars, white rice, bleached flour, etc.) now would be a great time to nix them.  If you wait until Day 1 of your feast & go cold turkey it will probably be a hard first few days for you…harder than it needs to be.  Now alcohol on other hand…you may want to get your last shots of tequila in because there will be no alcohol for 10 days.  Just kidding, sort of.  I know it’s only 10 days, right?  But 10 days covers a weekend & while this may not be an issue for some of you, I’ll be the first to admit when someone tells me I can’t have something, I want it BAD!  For example, a few weeks ago one of my girlfriends & I decided to give up alcohol for a month.  Do you know I couldn’t even go a whole week?  It was totally psychological because I just realized I haven’t had any alcohol in the last week & a half.  Go figure.

So start cutting you bread, refined sugar, meat, coffee & dairy down & 86 your processed foods COMPLETELY.  This is kind of where I’m at right now.  This time when I started the juice feast I had been eating shitty for probably the longest period of time since I’ve gotten clean & I didn’t take this into consideration.  I thought that by buying all the stuff & setting a date it would be like getting on a bike.  Not.  More like falling off a bike!  I was trying to figure out why I was having such a hard time.  But I had been gone too long & even though I wasn’t eating processed foods or packaged foods, I was eating out a lot, drinking, not exercising enough.   I had my dissertation defense & graduation, the kids were on summer break, we were traveling, etc.  I needed to ease back into it.  So what the last 20 days has been for me is reintroducing juicing/blending daily to my routine, eating whole foods all of the time, no bread, occasional whole grains…the whole 75/25 I was talking about in my post yesterday.  As I’m moving forward, it is getting easier to rely more on green juice & plant-based foods.  So don’t underestimate your potential but always be kind to yourself & know that this is a process. We are evolving.  It has been over 3 years for me & I’m still falling off the bike.  The up-side is, I always get back on.  Ok, enough bike analogies.  I need to get back to writing.  To be continued…
